Midtown MacPark Montessori Academy – Opening Late 2024

Our Midtown MacPark Infant Program provides children aged 0-2 with a nurturing environment full of opportunities for learning through movement, exploration, and connection.

Learning goals for our infants focus on movement skills, language development, developmental milestones, fine motor development, social skills, and the joy of every child.

Infant Learning Goals

• Uses simple gestures to communicate
• Explores objects in different ways
• Chooses an activity and packs it away
• Plays alongside others
• Knows the names of body parts, colours, and shapes
• Beginning to use one to two word phrases
• Demonstrates independence skills such as self-feeding
• Achieving physical development milestones such as crawling, walking, climbing and jumping

The Midtown MacPark Toddler Program for ages 2-3 is active, self-paced, and involves learning using all five senses. Children are introduced to the five areas of the Montessori Curriculum, including: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language and Culture, and develop competence through repetition and practice.

Learning goals for our toddlers focus on independence skills, language development, fine motor development, social skills, and essential academic and wellbeing foundations.

Toddler Learning Goals

Our Midtown MacPark Preschool Program for ages 3-6 offers children a dynamic learning environment where they are empowered to choose their work, follow their interests, and progress at their own pace.

The Preschool Curriculum introduces children to a range of advanced Montessori materials that expand on their knowledge of Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language and Culture.

Preschool Learning Goals

• Formation of individual letters and numbers
• Recognises numerals and counts by rote
• Reads simple sentences and constructs phonetic words
• Can write and recognise their own name
• Aware of the decimal system, addition, and subtraction
• Participates in physical activities and follows the rules of games
• Shows self-confidence and interacts well with others
• Ability to concentrate and work independently
• Responds to challenges and demonstrates problem-solving skills

During their final year of preschool, children at Midtown MacPark Montessori Academy participate in a comprehensive School Readiness Program that targets core academic competencies and school readiness skills. This ensures children are well prepared to make a successful transition to any type of primary school environment.

The School Readiness Program incorporates a series of workbooks that introduce children to primary school subjects in a traditional learning format. This is complemented by a hands-on approach to teaching school readiness skills such as proper pencil grip, cutting skills, letter and number formation, emotional regulation, following instructions, problem solving, and concentration.
