Parent Reviews
VAPS is a nice school, heaps of activity, excursions and my daughter love it. Making alot of friends, fun memories and the teachers are the best ;0)
I joined the school back in 2015 when the school first opened, amazing education and fun for kids
This is a horrible school, please please do not put your child in this school, especially if they are special needs. The teachers at that school are incompetent and also the principal. They do not take accountability and would try to deflect, try to blame the parent when issues are being brought up. My child would come back home from school smelling of urine every single day, and the teachers at that school would not communicate to me despite me trying to reach them multiple times. When I finally got ahold of one of the teachers, the teacher said, "Oh no more spare clothes," could at least have tried communicating to me, but they do not care. They called back maybe twice at around 4:30 p.m., when I missed the call, I couldn't call back, and a message back would pop up saying the school is now closed. They did this on 2 other occasions. The school tried to use that as an excuse to the Support coordinator for my child when it was brought up in conversation saying that I missed their calls when they tried calling me way after school hours, not good at all.
The office ladies would say they'll get back to me; when I would call to ask to speak to the teachers, no call back. It came to a point when I got a support coordinator for my child to hold an interview to discuss the issues. My child was constantly having meltdowns every morning, locking themselves in the room screaming every morning when I woke my child to go to school. My child was constantly bullied. My child is also non-verbal and would use a device to communicate with me and would tell me through there that they were unhappy at school, etc. My child would sometimes come home with injuries from school one time a child cut my child's hair and one time my child came back from school with a bloody nose and the teachers at school said that they'll investigate it, only for them to not contact me and I had to call them. Their response they didn't see anything. I spoke with the teachers to please look out for my child, etc, it'll fall on deaf ears.
I removed my child from Victoria Avenue Public School.
My child now goes to another school and loves their new school and doesn't have meltdowns anymore and is excited for school. They would dance around the table every morning as I pack their lunch and would be excited to dress themselves for school, My child never acted that way when they were at Victoria Avenue Public school and I used to hurt my back trying to carry my child to get them to get dressed for school when they were attending Victoria Avenue Public school. Please please be careful if you have a child with a special needs child. This school put me through hell literally. This school needs to be investigated honestly. My child's mood and behaviour have improved so much after taking them out of that school.
Former student here.
The teachers did not teach me math properly, don't send your kid here unless you want them growing up to be terrible in maths.
The only kind teacher here was Miss Baumgart, I enjoyed talking to her.
It's a Good school for special needs children.
My daughter enjoys going to school and makes good friends there. Very caring environment due to its smaller size and the teachers are aLeah’s energetic and lovely. The principal is very approachable and respectable. She is often seen at the school gate to greet students and parents in the morning. My daughter goes to music lessons and art class on site. The after school care is decent and has nothing to complain about. Oh, yes, the canteen is so popular and serves yummy lunch. Highly recommended.
