Additional Centre Information

The Big Treehouse operates on Awabakal land. We acknowledge the Awabakal People as the traditional custodians of the New Lambton region and pay our respects to Awabakal elders past and present. We are committed to a positive future for the Aboriginal community. The Big Treehouse Early Education and Boutique Preschool offers care for children aged from 3-6 years in a long daycare setting. Our aim is to provide each child with the fundamental skills for life. We want to achieve this by scaffolding their learning through play and providing them with a specialised individual educational program.

Our Community

• We believe that we are a part of a broader community that supports our understandings of the Awabakal people, cultures and history. This awareness that we are apart of the community supports us to develop and inquire.

• We believe that through play children can explore their observations of the world around them, transferring their knowledge into play experiences that foster these curiosities. Our Children

• We believe our children are unique, capable and confident learners who possess an array of skills which are shared with us throughout each day. As educators we have the pleasure of sharing these moments with children as we observe and watch them grow.

• Our children are welcomed into an environment which is safe, secure and supportive.

• We believe children are creative and imaginative. As we share an environment that fosters children’s creativity to grow we observe their capabilities, interests, and strengths.

• We believe children are eager to learn. As educators we facilitate a child’s right to learn, feel empowered, make choices and decisions as they develop on their existing knowledge and desire to learn more.

Our Program

• We believe that the child is at the heart of the program. Educators listen to the child’s voice and allow that interest to guide interest-based experiences that are meaningful and engaging.

• Experiences are constantly evolving to maintain children’s engagement in the program. Children’s engagement is monitored through observations and documentation.

• Educators engage in critical reflection to support the continuation of a program that is supportive of the children’s needs, interests, and goals. Educators work collaboratively with families to listen, create and design a program that involves all stakeholders.

• Our program acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land, we pay our respects to the Awabakal, people and acknowledge that our learning takes place on sacred land.

• We are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS) as we strive to deliver a program that supports children and educator practices.

Our Educators

• We believe our educators make a difference and have a lasting impact on the lives and wellbeing of the children and their families.

• Our Educators share passion towards the development and learning of children as we work in collaboration with families. • Our educators support and learn from each other as we grow professionally.

• Our educators are welcoming, warm, and have true care about the education and wellbeing of the children.

Our Families

• We believe our families know their child best. Collaborating with families to gather information about their child is important as we plan a supportive program that reflects the individual needs of their child. Consistent communication supports the relationship to develop.

• We value our families and appreciate their involvement in our program, we recognize their ability to offer skills and knowledge in supporting their child’s growth.
