A child care centre is only as good as it’s staff. This centre has an alarming high staff turnover rate and the staff are treated appallingly. Forcing staff who are meant to be full time to reduce their hours on management whims to save money and then telling them have to do ridiculous split shifts (work 6-8am then 4-6pm). I know of more than one staff member who resigned and was then not paid for their last week. Look elsewhere to a day care centre who has morals and compassion.
I had a terrible experience at this centre in 2021. Constant staff turnover including management staff so it was impossible to raise issues and have them addressed with any continuity. There was almost 100% staff turnover in the 6 months I was at the centre. I also heard many stories of poor treatment of staff and there was a constant stream of new faces including many student placements. I felt really uneasy leaving my child, never knowing who would be caring for her. There was also a big delay in getting my deposit back once we left and numerous unanswered calls and emails seeking assistance to resolve. Avoid at all costs!
Do your research before enrolling your child at this centre. The company (Early Learning Australia Pty Ltd) also operates Karratha Early Learning, in Karratha, WA. In 2021, the Karratha service received three enforcement actions by the state regulator (Education and Care Regulatory Unit, Department of Communities). Also be aware that the Company and its director, Michelle Louise Pisano, ran Stripy Zebras, which received a State Administrative Tribunal penalty in 2017 for an incident in which a 4 yo child was left strapped inside a bus in the Pilbara heat. She was eventually rescued by a passing parent who heard banging from the bus. When the parent entered the bus, she found the girl strapped into a booster seat, crying and covered in sweat. Her skin was red and she had urinated.
Actually my son Leon attend Holy Family for a few months where he has been very happy there. We were very happy with the new owner during the covid crisis but unfortunately all the new staff have been very cold and fired all the previous staff overnight. My son was very sad there and couldn’t eat anymore with the new staff. They even didn’t wished his birthday while I told the educator on the morning that he tuned 3 on that day. It was a nightmare to wait the 3 weeks waiting time to get him out of your center. We totally had a new happy little boy in the new childcare after that. I understand it was a settlement period for you but lots of mistake have been done during the handover from your side. I’ve never seen my son that sad. You can’t ignore that as all families ran away during this period. I’m sure you have done plenty of improvement since then, but I’m just sick each time I’m close to your center.
SH Early Learning has exceeded my expectations. My baby started when he was 3.5 months, and I was sad and nervous about leaving him in care - however I am now so happy when I drop him off as I know they will continue to foster his learning and development. I get regular updates during the day, which is the highlight of my day. The staff are friendly, approachable and most importantly create an environment that is warm and loving. Thank you to the staff for making this transition back to work stress free.
I have been trying to get them to refund me money they overcharged ( continued debiting me when we agreed on my child's end date verbally and written) I had to get my bank to ban them taking any more money. Also they have not bothered putting through my childcare subsidy for months. I have been informed these will be rectified by Kavanna, Tamara and Jessica. It seems Kavanna and Tamara have been fired/quit. Jessica has not responded to my emails and doesn't reply my calls for weeks now. The staff turnover at this childcare is ridiculous. Please rectify this for me asap and I will remove this 1 star rating. I would give 0 stars if I could.
My son attended here for a year before starting school. He always had a wonderful time and looked forward to attending each day, and has made some lifelong friends that he still has 7 years later!
I have been following up a number of weeks pay from this company after unsuccessful contact by email, mobile phone, landline phone, social media and other methods. Very disappointed.
