Our Philosophy
Children learn through play
Knowledge is not given to children; they learn through playful and meaningful interactions with materials and people. Therefore each child processes experiences uniquely. Our Educators adapt and plan the curriculum in response to this dynamic way of learning for young children.
Child-driven programming
We believe that children should have input and guidance in the experiences provided for them, therefore our program is based on emerging topics that interest the children. Such as individual personality, learning style, interests, culture, beliefs and family background contribute to activities and experiences which are child initiated and teacher led.
Every child is unique & different
Respect for each child’s individualised pattern and stages of growth, are central to the fabric of daily interactions and the direction of the curriculum. Children learn and develop best when exploring their world through stimulating and challenging play. Our environment provides these opportunities, allowing children to reach their individual development in the areas of: physical abilities, expressive arts, problem solving, mathematical skills, language and literacy – and most importantly the ability to develop and maintain relationships and to make wise thoughtful decisions.
Intentional teaching, active learning
Our intentional teaching is an active process, by relating to children that embraces and builds on their strengths, interests, ideas and needs. Our Educators are purposeful in their decisions and actions. Our practice extends children’s thinking, builds deep understanding and occurs in emergent and planned experiences. We use a range and balance of strategies to cater for and promote all children’s learning.
Consistency, safety & our duty of care
A consistent and safe environment is essential for each child’s development. The duty of care of our children is our first and foremost priority. An important element in achieving this is a close relationship between the centre and our families.
Our commitment to staff training & quality care
We recognise the importance of our staff in our ability to implement these philosophies in order to provide the highest quality care. We invest in every staff member through our commitment to individualised training and development programs. We also work closely with other childcare professionals in order to constantly aim for high standard of quality care.
