Parent Reviews
Mostly wonderful teachers and a great community. Preschool is amazing 🤩 and a wonderful experience from Piccolini (3years old) until year 1. However, wellbeing of my daughter was not met in year 1. Principal lacked care, and the teacher was unwilling to put any simple strategies in place to support our daughter’s wellbeing around learning after asking, and her promising to do so. We felt let down by the lack of leadership, and lack of holding staff accountable to do the right thing by her students. Myself and my husband both work in education and this school has a great community, but if your child hits a speed bump in their learning don’t expect any support or help from them. My daughter’s struggle with reading/literacy led to school refusal and anxieties that were ignored and not addressed, and only exasperated by the lack of consideration and care from her teacher. A teacher who squashed her confidence completely with yelling, and I saw my daughters learning actually go backwards.
Thankfully this has all changed at her new school and her learning growth has been huge. We have experienced two new teachers at her new school and she is happy to be at school again like normal…how she was prior to her year 1 year. Would recommend the school if you feel your child will never struggle in a learning area.. as if you hit the teacher we had, she refused to differentiate or meet our daughter at her level of learning in literacy/reading and refused to put strategies in place to help her. I was told “That’s how the program is run”
Also glad my daughter is now not in a class hovering around the 29 students per classroom.
When looking for a school you would usually take a tour at many schools before making a decision, not us, 3 years ago we did one tour of a school turned out to be Saint Joseph's Payneham and loved it!! It just felt right, we got a beautiful feel from the staff and their concept and what a wonderful 3 years we have had, our girls both started there from Preschool and they love it, our girls are happy, they love their teachers and are learning lots of things daily. One of our children have needed extra care and the school is doing everything to help speed her up, with many little help programs. The support from the school has been fabulous. Facilities are fabulous too, can't speak highly enough of this school♡.
We moved our children here at the recommendation of a family member, and have not been disappointed. The teaching is of high quality, they are responsive to concerns. The children are happy and cared for.
Can’t speak highly enough of St Josephs Payneham. Both my children have achieved great things with incredible support from their teachers every year! Great facilities, great school vibe and the leadership team are awesome. I recommend SJP to anyone looking for a school to meet your child’s needs.
I wish I could put more stars; 5 aren’t enough!
The staff & community are beyond amazing, we have been so happy! Parents who are considering to send their children to Piccolini which is the Occasional Care program here, I would highly recommend as it’s a great way for the kids to get introduced to the school & to see familiar faces all the time. I did this for my eldest & it was the best decision made for all. So happy we chose St Joseph’s Payneham :).
Our family has engaged with St Joseph’s Payneham since attending playgroup with my eldest four years ago. From that moment, I knew it encapsulated the warm, inviting, community feel I sought after for my children and our entire family as we set to embark on the schooling years. From there, having the “piccolini” occasional care program for 3-4 year olds enabled our eldest to familiarise himself even more so that on his first day of pre school it was all smiles! We have been blessed with teachers who have continued to demonstrate warmth, passion and care for not only our child’s learning journey, but their entire wellbeing at school. Outside of the classroom, the children have fabulous opportunities to engage with plenty of extra curricular activities, and in-house “special days” to celebrate throughout the term such as multicultural day which was a high energy day with live music, costumes, dancing, and purely a celebration for all and it was evident the organisers were very passionate and believed in their purpose. I am grateful for this schooling community and look forward to the creation of many more special memories for my children and for us as parents.
