Little Lane Early Learning Centre - Hawthorn

Cannot speak more highly of Little Lane. The friendly, caring and nurturing staff work extremely hard to cater to the different needs of each child. They tailor programs and activities to suit, provide excellent advice and guidance and are all round welcoming. Am fortunate to have complete trust in the fact that the staff are giving my boys an exceptional level of education and care whilst keeping it fun.

My son (2 and a half years old) has been enrolled at Little Lane in Hawthorn for about 14 months and we have decided to leave the centre in March 2020.
Initially, we have been impressed by the new place and its setup: it has been sold very well to us.
The facts are that the management is really focus on doing business and not developing kids’ skills.
During the time that he was at Little Lane, we had 4 different directors including the last one, that has the title of “Area Manager”.  Few of the managers have been good: in fact, they left after few months and the same happened for the floor staff. We experienced nice educators that slowly all disappear. Our son was not happy at all to go there, and he was not developing skills like other kids that go to different childcares. We decided to move him to a different centre (still in the same area) that is a community childcare, where families, and most important kids, are the real focus of the entire structure. My son quickly improved a lot in social skills, languages (he is bilingual) and, most important, he is a happy and healthy boy.
At Little Lane, my family found: a bad management, many young and green staff at their first experience with young kids, not suitable food, and in general not a right place where a parent wants to send his/her child.
I really recommend browsing all the alternatives before to enrol your kids to this centre.

My daughter has been going to Little Lane since she was 10 months old, and the staff are absolutely wonderful! Enza, Bushra and Nikki looked after her initially, and they still come and check in on her. Chris, Sonya, Jackie and Kelsey are lovely people, and you can tell they don't treat their work just as a job - they always go above and beyond in looking after the children. They are caring and observant, and have been very patient (with mum and bub!) when transitioning to daycare. I call to see how my daughter is going, and Chris usually gives me a detailed update, and it's never too much trouble.
The admin staff are great - Mona, Preet and Aleesha who are usually at the front always have time for a quick chat with the kids. They've always answered all questions quickly, and nothing ever seems like too much trouble.
Love the place, and very grateful to them for going above and beyond always!

I absolutely love this kindy, would definitely recommend to all other families with young children! My 2yr old baby sister is currently attending Little Lane Hawthorn and she has learnt so much during her time here. I am much older than she is and I often help my parents with drop-off and pickup. The staff are very friendly and I am always greeted with a smile from reception. This kindy just holds a very welcoming environment that I have not seen any where else. There is so much about this centre that makes it stand out from all the others. There are many programmes that my sister enjoys and has fun taking part of such as the mini maestro music programme and Ms Chen’s mandarin classes. My parents and I especially love receiving the daily updates that the centre posts online with lots of photos of my baby sister playing in the playground, climbing forts and doing different art projects. Another aspect of the kindy that is catered for really well are the meals, the food prepared daily are very diverse ranging from all different cultures and cuisines. Some that I have personally seen on the menu board at the entrance include risotto, Mexican rice, beef stroganoff, grilled fish and lasagne to name a few (sometimes I wish the chef could pack me one to go!). Most importantly my sister can’t stop talking about how much she loves going to kindy to see Ms Annie, Ms Eirene, Ms Mona, Ms Aleesha, Ms Preet everyday.

As a rule of thumb you should believe in what the Victoria Region Manager Mona and Boxhill little lane administration staff Yiming said in here. After signing up to this place you will need to be submissive and adhere to the straight centre rules. If you forget to sign in/out from the ipad, they will charge $5 each entry. Be sure to check your bill every fortnight. During the transition to the new room we were being charge for 2 different rooms on the same day. The holiday discount applied on Christmas was 1 day less because there is a PROBLEM in the computer system that they never fix. My child was only in the centre for 4 days a week but being charged for 5 days. Whenever you try to speak to them about this, they are defensive and said it’s not their problem. It’s better to write an email to them instead of going in person, as the administrative staff change every 6 months. If the one you have spoken to has resigned, you have no proof. Mona is the 4th manager since this centre was opened in March, 2018. The manager was changed every 6 months. They are pioneer of education. Recently they have published “the code of conduct for parents” to ask the parents to be submissive. They are not only delivering education to your kid but to you as well. Stay away if you want to save your sanity.
