For many students at Kilvington Grammar School in Ormond, Victoria, lunchtime wasn't just about food; it was about the warmth and kindness of Kerry, our beloved canteen lady. Kerry's absence has left a void in the school, and this essay serves as a petition to bring her back.
Kerry wasn't just someone who served meals; she was a friendly face, a listening ear, and a source of comfort for countless students. Her presence made the often-stressful school environment feel more welcoming. She remembered students' names, their preferences, and always had a kind word or a funny anecdote to share.
Beyond her personal touch, Kerry provided a valuable service. Her meals were known for being delicious, homemade, and a welcome alternative to processed cafeteria food. She catered to dietary restrictions and offered healthy options, ensuring students were well-fueled for the rest of the school day.
Her departure has had a significant impact on the school community. Students miss her friendly demeanor and the sense of familiarity she brought to lunchtime. The current canteen offerings may not be meeting the same standards for quality and taste that Kerry set.
We, the students of Kilvington Grammar, urge the school administration to reconsider Kerry's employment. Her return would not only bring back a cherished member of the school community but also elevate the lunchtime experience for all students.
please make the mac and cheese bigger portions!!
While our experience with Kilvington's Early Learning Centre (ELC) was positive, our encounter with the Prep year left us thoroughly disappointed. Initially drawn to Kilvington due to the amiable teachers in the ELC, our journey took an unexpected turn.
A concerning incident arose when another child falsely accused my daughter of intentionally hitting her. Shockingly, the teacher failed to conduct a proper investigation and denied my daughter the opportunity to explain herself. Instead, she hastily imposed punishment on my child on two consecutive days. It was only later, through my daughter's account, that we learned she had been penalized for something she didn't do.
In our attempt to rectify the situation, we engaged in email communication with the teacher, presenting the true version of events. We requested a reinvestigation of the incident and, if necessary, an apology from the other child. Regrettably, the teacher displayed a lack of concern and dismissed our pleas, seemingly favoring the other child.
Frustrated by the teacher's indifference, we escalated the matter to the head of the junior school. Despite our efforts, there was no resolution, and our request to transfer to another Prep class was coldly rejected. This unyielding stance, coupled with the apparent favoritism towards the other child, has left us disheartened.
Choosing Kilvington was based on its proximity, and we were willing to invest in the high private school fees with the expectation that the school, despite its size, would prioritize student well-being. Unfortunately, our experience has not aligned with this expectation, leaving us thoroughly disappointed with Kilvington.
As parents, we believe that the fees paid should not only cover the academic aspects but also ensure that our child is treated fairly and has an equal opportunity to thrive in the school community. This incident has highlighted a significant gap between the expected standards and the actual treatment received.
We moved to a different school now and more than happy.
Had a teacher tell me I was too stupid to do the course I wanted to do in University.
The Ice Tea at the canteen needs to be decreased
