This is based on personal experience so read along only if you are free or thinking of applying for a job here.
This centre opened up in my local area and I applied for job. First thing that caught my eye was the 1300number.
Anyhow, got a call from HR in Sydney. Few mails exchanged to setup a time for call. I took an hour off from work to attend to this call. I thought it’ll be an interview call since she wanted to discuss job profile.
HR was supposed to call at 8:30am, didn't hear back until 9:05am. I called her as I was on a clock. Called twice, the phone went unanswered. I sent her an email asking if she still plans to talk. She immediately called back and said she was stuck in traffic. Maybe she forgot that entire NSW was in lockdown at the time of this conversation and considering ONLY the essential workers going to work, getting stuck in traffic, not a good excuse anyways.
Anyhow, I am told this is not an interview and she just wants some general info.
HR, How far do you live from the center? Me, hardly 5 minutes walk.
HR, Surprised, Under 5 min.. Me, Yes
HR, How much related experience do you have? Me, 9+ years [in the same workplace]
HR, Reason for change? Me, Cutting on travel time and would love to work in local area.
HR, OK, I will discuss your profile and get back to setup interview call.
The entire conversation lasted a few min and felt very odd considering her enthusiasm before. So, I looked up this HR on Linked in and found that she has been in this role for an year and was working as a waitress and travel agent before. Not that I doubt anybodys ability to do the job but it really got me thinking.
Anyways, week passed and no response. I sent a mail asking for an update.
To my amusement, I got a preformatted mail saying, Thank you for your interest at .. and your time during the interview process. We received a large number of applications ..
I did have a hearty laugh but, seriously, was it an interview process? If so, then be kind enough to let the other person know its an interview.
Having almost 10 years’ experience in this industry, conducting so many interviews and mentoring others, I must admit this was the most ludicrous interview and a clear message for me to understand how this centre would operate, let alone work-related issues. It’s a shame to have experienced such a thing but looking back I am thankful.
Few of our friends walked in to check the centre [nothing out of ordinary, unless you are fascinated by newly build centres or a free cuppa].
Please excuse me for asking, do you support work diversity?
Unfortunately, whosoever, I shared this experience with was awe struck and I must apologize, few of our friends decided to keep away as they were planning to move their kids from local day care.
I could have replied to HR and posted this review on your Facebook page. I didnot, as I know how well this would be overlooked, so, sharing it with the community. Atleast they know what to expect, when applying for a job in this Company.
My daughter has flourished at Where We Grow, such a happy and a beautiful place with good educators who are professional, friendly, and caring. We feel we can trust them all while leaving our child in their care all day.
I decided to write a review as I received an email from WWG asking me to share my “positive” experience on google. I wouldn’t have been prompted to do this otherwise. It annoys me that they assume the feedback is positive. We left the center due to the fee increase. As whole upper management came across as money hungry and unwilling to fix issues within the center. For instance our toddler injured himself multiple times on uneven ground in the toddler yard that they were refusing to fix. Our toddler hit his head into a concrete wall, obtained a massive egg and had to be monitored for concussion. This happened more than once. At the time we left, higher management weren’t going to do anything about the risk. There are other centers around with a more affordable daily fee. We did appreciate the director and the staff in our sons room were great. But due to the yard and the fees, we moved on
The staff here are beyond words! My daughter is 2 and in pre kinder she is so shy and the way all the educators care for her are beyond words! Sadly we are moving and I feel the next daycare has some big shoes to fill and large expectations to meet based on this centre!
My son started here at 4months old now 9months old and his so loved and happy here it’s very comforting to know!
If your child’s about to be enrolled and in the babies room with Shakira or Emily OR in pre kinder with Ree, Ange, Louisa, Ash, Molly, Vicky or any other wonderful educator my children have come across you’re in wonderful hands!
We honestly love it here. My son is 3yo and we have been here for almost 2 years. Have been in 3 different rooms and each and every one has been fabulous. The educators are so kind and caring. My son loves doing Yoga and sport incursions weekly and bush kinder excursions to the local park. All the staff are approachable and understanding. Thanks to each one of you who have enriched our sons learning experience.
Really a very bad experience with the members.
Very bad environment for children, and staff management don’t have the manner how to speak with parents or guardian
As a Educator at where we grow I can confidently say that this centre feels like a home to me. Working in this industry for 10 years has shown me that this service is the right one for me. I am beyond grateful to have a management team that show so my love, care, and support toward their team and believe in helping their staff grow and progress in their careers. They truly value each team member.
The staff I work along side with are all amazing, they have so much talent and provide amazing care to our wonderful children and families. I always look forward to coming to work and seeing the children’s smilies. I am grateful of all the wonderful relationships I have made.
Wow what can I say I am thankful for everything that WWG has done for my son especially Sarah in the kindergarten room she is absolutely fantastic and has definitely gone above and beyond for my son we are finally getting all the help we need thanks to Sarah she is amazing she is always happy to have a chat to discuss your child’s needs.
