Win a Fun Bluey Book Pack + Make Dad a Cool Card.

BY HEJIRA CONVERY, KINDICARE

AUGUST 12, 2022

Father’s Day is soon and what every dad really wants on September 4 is some downtime!

He needs an activity book to keep everyone busy while he’s still in bed, then a few funny stories to share once he’s up, and this is where a Bluey book pack is worth its weight in dog treats!

There are several Father’s Day-friendly titles to choose from, and thanks to Penguin Random House, we’re giving one KindiCare reader a:

For your chance to win this prize pack, just tell us in 25 words or less, why your family wants to celebrate Dad’s Day with Bluey.

Send your entry to competitions@kindicare.com by Sunday, 21 August, 2022*.

A DIY card will also make Dad’s day.

It doesn’t have to be perfect (just ask Bluey and Bingo), but any card made with love is guaranteed to be a keeper.

To kick-start the creative process, here are four ways to craft a Father’s Day card with your kiddo:

1. Dazzle Dad with a galaxy handprint card

Handprints are a classic way to immortalise your little one’s palm for posterity, but instead of painting their hand and stamping it on paper, why not reach for the stars?

Simply trace and cut out their palmprint, lay it on a sheet of black card that’s folded in half, and let your tyke go to town spraying different coloured paint onto the paper, using spray bottles or the old ‘dip and flick’ paintbrush method.

This is a splittery, splattery outdoor activity (just in time for Spring!), and “I love you more than all the stars in the sky” is a heartfelt message to copy onto the card (thanks, Buggy and Buddy!).

2. Think outside the square with a toilet roll card

This kind of upcycled, stand-alone Father’s Day card is great if your child isn’t ready to write a big message.

All you need is one toilet roll, a piece of colourful kid’s art that’s ok to write on and cut up, and a little person who’s keen to pose for a photo with their arms raised.

There are step-by-step instructions here, but assembling the card is as easy as sticking your kiddo’s photo onto the toilet roll, adding two slits to the top of the roll, and sliding in a ‘Happy Father’s Day!’ sign made from a rectangle of repurposed art.

3. Share the love with a daddy bear card

If Dad is famous for his bear hugs (or passion for porridge!), then a flip-up, pop-up daddy bear card is a grrrrr-eat idea.

The steps here are easy to follow, even without the proper printable.

You just need to cut out some brown bear shapes, stick them together, then add your cub’s fingerprints for the nose and photo for the heart.

4. Brighten Dad’s day with a colouring-in card

If your child is learning to stay inside the lines, then a DAD-shaped card with a colourable design is the biz!

There are printables here to inspire you, with themes like BBQ-ing, golfing and camping, but you can easily do your own design, using a sheet of A4 paper folded in half, some scissors, an Artline for the outlines, and a selection of coloured pencils/textas for your kiddo to work their magic with.

And that’s a wrap!

Whatever you make, buy or win for Dad, we hope you have a fantastic Father’s Day, and now’s a perfect time to put some plans in place for Sept 4.
