8 Halloween goodies that are fun, and not freaky, for under-fives.

OCTOBER 14, 2025

Jump scares and sugar crashes aren’t so enjoyable for your little one, but a new toy, game or book will be, and there are some great Halloween-themed playthings to choose from.

Here are eight that took our fancy, and if you’re sold on these goodies, there’s still time to stock up before October 31.

1. Felt food

Tis’ the season for roleplay, and this felt spooky ghost grazing set from Tara Treasures will turn your timid tyke into a fearless trick-or-treater!

Your preschooler can collect ghoulish cupcakes, cookies and other treats in their mildly spooky bag, or dish them out to brave souls like you.

And it’s good to know that there’s nothing scary about how this felt food is made, because it’s all fair trade.

2. An eco bubble wand

If you’re keen for a “bubble, bubble, toil and trouble” vibe in the backyard or local park, then grab a Halloween-themed bubble wand from Kinfolk & Co.

Your little one will be mesmerised by a star-shaped or web-shaped wand, and if you’re looking for an insect that’s not too creepy, this dragonfly design will do nicely!

3. A Monster Tag game

With two monster costumes (ok, vests) and six sticky balls, this toss and tag game is roarsome fun for ages 3+.

Siblings, playmates and parents can all get in on the action, and if you’re mad for this game, you can invest in two sets for multiplayer monstering!

4. Bluey figurines

All you Bluey fans will be excited to see Bluey, Bingo, Chloe and Lucky in their Halloween costumes, and this four-pack of figurines means your preschooler can get into the spirit of trick-or-treating without leaving the living room.

Alternatively, you can take these little guys onto the mean streets, and charm the neighbours with their cuteness.

5. A search-and-find board book

If your little one loves devouring books, then The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s Peekaboo Halloween board book will be a treat.

This new release is shaped like a pumpkin, and the book's full of search-and-find fun, with the Very Hungry Caterpillar hidden amongst jack-o-lanterns, lolly baskets, bats and other Halloweeny delights.

6. A playdough stamp set

We’re suckers for playdough, and if your under-five loves this squishy sensory material too, then hunt down this monster eco stamp set from Kinfolk & Co to make your own monsters.

And although you can mix up any colours for the playdough, we're voting for Halloween Green and People-eater Purple!

7. A DIY calm down bottle

Halloween can get a bit hectic, with all the crazy costumes, sweet treats and randoms knocking on your door, and a Halloween-themed sensory bottle from Jellystone Designs is a great way to take the frazzle out of fright night.

Just pour in the spooky sparkles, add water, then hand this calm down bottle to your preschooler, and watch the magic happen.

8. A black cat soft toy

As the night closes in and ghouls roam the streets, Olli Ella's Carson Cat is the purr-fect companion for your toddler or preschooler.

This comforting kitty is cloaked in velvet, with glow-in-the-dark ears; and when dawn breaks, this Dinky Dinkum Doll is up for daytime adventures too.

And that’s a wrap.

We hope you have a fun Halloween, and happy shopping!
