The school holidays are almost upon us, and in between wondering how Term One whizzed by so fast, you’ll also be wondering what to do with your under 12 when work gets in the way of family time.
Fortunately, there’s a thing called vacation care, and whether you need one day, or two weeks, of kid-approved care, Camp Australia is here to help!
Their Rocketeers holiday program is packed with fun activities, incursions and excursions, and although programs vary from service to service, here are five experiences your kiddo will want to launch into.
1. The 2023 Handball Championships
This friendly comp is back by popular demand at Camp Australia’s services, and it gives kids a chance to practise their spin and move up to King.
The best handball player in each service progresses to a Regional Championship, for their chance to win cash and glory, and even those stuck in Dunce will have a ball (literally and figuratively!).
2. The 60-second Challenge
On paper, the 60-second challenge is all about teamwork, motor skills and strategic thinking, and in practice, it’s crazy fun!
Teams get 60 seconds to solve and tackle different puzzles and games, and the quickest, bestest groups move on to the final.
There are prizes up for grabs, and if you think the school term went fast, then you haven’t seen a Rocketeers moving ping pong balls with a plastic spoon!
3. A Rock-out Fest
29 April is International Dance Day and, to celebrate, some services are holding an all-day music event towards the end of the school hols.
There’s going to be singing, dancing, air guitar and festival fashion, and if you miss this gig, your family can always get with the program by streaming the new Rocketeers song, Take Me to Base Camp (B.A.S.E.C.A.M.P) on Spotify, Apple Music and other big name services.
4. The Great Rocketeers Challenge
If your child is a Survivor super-fan, then this excursion is for them!
Primary school aged players get two hours to Out Smart, Out Laugh and Out Fun each other as they move through action-packed zones.
There are team-building games, xtreme obstacles and Gladiator-style battles – all supervised by trained professionals – and let’s not forget the hidden Rocketeers Idol and the title of sole Rocketeers Survivor!
5. A Sandwich Master Class
If Master Chef is more your child’s measure, then this incursion adds a whole new level to lunch prep by combining art, craft and sandwich assemblage.
Kids get to customise their own chef’s hat, make an eco-friendly sandwich bag, and invent the freshest, yummiest, oh, and healthiest sangers this side of Mars.
