Managing Childcare Costs
Managing Childcare Costs
As many families will know childcare fees can put a significant dent into the monthly budget.
But a new app is making it easier for parents to juggle finances.
Dubbed KindiCare the tool helps parents find and compare the cost of childcare centres near them.
Today finance expert Effie Zahos road-tested the KindiCare App herself.
"What I like it does have an in-built calculator to let you know what subsidies apply," Zahos said.
"It's not the only subsidy calculator out there. Of course, the government has one on Services Australia.
Zahos went on to explain there's help available if parents are struggling to pay childcare.
"The first is do check with your service provider about the gap, the payment gap. That's basically, you get a childcare subsidy payment," she said.
"The other one is that they have extended the number of absentee days.
"Normally you get up to 42-days per child where you get as absentees. That case now is you get additional days. You don't have to use it.
"If they actually pay that gap basically you can keep your kid at home and not pay a cent."
