There are more than 215,000 early childhood educators in Australia, and if you are grateful for the care, enthusiasm, commitment and expertise of your child’s educator, then Wednesday, September 3 is the perfect day to put that feeling into words.

Sept 3 is when Early Childhood Educators’ Day 2025 is happening, and this annual event is all about recognising the key role that educators play in supporting young children’s wellbeing, learning and development.

Stopping to say a meaningful “Thank you” at childcare drop-off, or going along to an Educators’ Day event at your centre, are two easy ways to give your educator the credit they deserve on the day.

But with spring in the air, and joy in the giving, here are five ways to say “Thank you” with flowers!

1. Find a floral greeting card

There are lots of flower-themed thank you cards out there, from the cheapies at your local $2 shop to those stunners with gold foil and 250gsm card, but really, it’s the message inside that counts.

Take the time to write something heartfelt, noting the things that make your educator so amazing and appreciated.

Then add something from your child too – whether that’s a tracing around their hand, or a kid-drawn portrait of their educator, with stick legs and crazy hair!

2. Make your educator's day with Marimekko

Marimekko’s flowery designs are guaranteed to brighten up your educator’s life, and whether you give them some paper napkins for their morning tea, a new mug for their afternoon pick-me-up, or some jibbitz for their casual Crocs, your pretty gift will be put to good use.

3. Decorate some flowery cupcakes

Whether you contribute to an Educators’ Day bring-a-plate, or box up some beauties for your educator to take home, some fresh cupcakes will go down gorgeously.

This taste.com.au recipe for vanilla flower cupcakes is an easy place to start, and this topping technique from @CakedByRach is genius (and very cute!).

4. Offer your educator a new fragrance

If your educator loves Mecca, or you just want them to feel special, then a mini fragrance is a great little gift.

There are lots of different scents to choose from, and this Floral Street Mini Fragrance Discovery Set could be perfect, because it comes with one scent for every day of the early learning week.

5. Hand over a bunch of blooms

Whether you splash out on a florist’s arrangement, or buy a bouquet from your local supermarket or greengrocer, fresh flowers are a beautiful way to show your gratitude on Early Childhood Educators’ Day.

And don’t feel that you have to go big.

A little bunch of preschooler-picked daisies will be greatly appreciated, and there’s also the option of making your own flowers with paper, cupcake cases and pipe cleaners, or using our KindiCare technique to put some 3D flowers in a pot with a special message.

And, of course, actions speak louder than any gorgeous gifts, and you don’t need to save up your gratitude for just one day.

If you ever feel good about something your educator has done, or something your child has achieved with their support, then don’t keep it to yourself!

Share your sentiment with the educator to give them a very well-deserved boost.

Write a positive parent review about them for your centre’s KindiCare listing.

Mention their wonderful work to someone in the leadership team, like the Centre Director.

And be forever grateful for the positive role this educator is playing in your child’s formative early years.
