As the crow flies, Kurmond isn’t that far from Sydney, but this picturesque little town feels a world away from all the hustle and bustle of the big smoke!

With the Blue Mountains on one side, the Hawkesbury River on the other, and rolling green hills all around, Kurmond is a gorgeous place to bring up your child, while still being able to commute to hubs like Parramatta, if that’s where your work takes you.

There’s definitely a lot to be said for a country upbringing or a family tree change, and if you find yourself located near Kurmond, looking for childcare, then Blue Wren Child Care Centre is a bright and beautiful option for your baby, toddler or preschooler.

This 80-place centre has been open since 2007, and although many great things happen inside, it’s the outdoor environment you’ll be really blown away by.

We mean this literally and figuratively, because Blue Wren has fresh air aplenty and a truly enchanting outdoor area.

There’s a generous playground, complete with multiple sandpits for open-ended play; plus an orchard, with oranges, mangoes and mulberries for little learners to pick and eat.

And let’s not forget the views!

Beyond the well-secured gates, the children at Blue Wren enjoy a classic country vista, with lush pastures, open skies and lots of cows, chickens, horses and goats nearby, to make each day extra interesting.

You’ll see all this when you tour Blue Wren in person, and at the enquiry stage, it’s good to know that the centre’s al fresco area makes a real difference to children’s learning and development.

Spending time outside, surrounded by greenery, is positive for under-fives’ health and wellbeing, and at Blue Wren, there’s lots of room for littlies to hop, skip, jump, run and breathe in great lungfuls of country air!

There’s space to explore, create and connect with the natural world, which gives children a real appreciation for the beauty that surrounds them; and all this engagement with nature is beneficial for their brain, both now and later.

Centre Director, Rozana Sabrin, explains that, “Engaging with nature has been linked to improved attention, problem-solving skills and creativity. Open-ended nature play, like in our outdoor environment, also encourages imaginative thinking and fosters executive function skills, such as planning, decision-making and self-regulation.”

Sensory play is also a big part of the outdoor experience at Blue Wren, and whether children are touching sand, tasting fruit, or hearing cows mooing in the near distance, these kinds of experiences support their cognitive development and expand their understanding of the world.

All in all, Blue Wren provides an enriching environment that’s nice to be in and great to learn from!

Rozana says, “We provide an environment that is full of endless opportunities and is safe for children to explore freely,

“We have up to 16 educators looking after the children each day, and pride ourselves on our nurturing and caring environment, which includes our amazing outdoor classroom.”

A centre tour is the best way to experience everything that Blue Wren Child Care Centre has to offer (including its beautiful vista), and you can easily enquire and book a tour using KindiCare.

You can also learn more about play-rich early learning environments in this KindiCare article, which contains expert input from a play expert and playground designer.

And wherever your childcare search takes you, we hope you get a great feel from the place you enrol with, and reap the rewards of an amazing childcare offering.
