Curriculum is a key consideration when you’re choosing childcare, and Green Leaves Early Learning Rosebud offers an amazing one!

Modern parents don’t just want to drop and go when it comes to long day care.

Instead, we want to know that our under-fives are getting a quality education in their most formative years, and for this reason, curriculum is a big consideration when you’re weighing up prospective services, and entrusting your early learner to a team of educators.

So, what to look for?

Well, there’s no one curriculum that ticks every box for every family.

Some people are looking for Montessori-inspired classes, while others are interested in Mandarin, but Green Leaves Early Learning Rosebud provides a great example of the many learning experiences one centre can offer.

Green Leaves Rosebud is a new Victorian service that’s run by a very experienced Centre Director, Zara, and this centre’s rich curriculum is evident from the moment families first walk through the door!

At Green Leaves Rosebud, there’s a dynamic atmosphere where educators are actively engaged with children.

Families can see genuine relationships between educators and early learners whenever they visit, and this is what you’re looking for when you tour a centre, then formally become part of a childcare family.

Zara explains that, “At a centre with a rich curriculum, you will see children actively participating in a variety of experiences, with educators enthusiastically joining in.

“Learning will be visible, which means you will see children’s work displayed, showcasing their learning in a respectful way.”

You’ll also see staff making a great effort to engage families and the wider community, and Green Leaves Rosebud does this very well.

Zara says, “We are very community-minded and ensure that our program and curriculum really reflect how we can nurture areas of growth within the community and for each individual child.”

In support of this, the team collaborates with families through regular communication.

They do this with a balance of visual documentation that families can see at the service, and educational posts on the centre’s interactive online platform.

Zara says, “Our families have said that they feel heard and actively involved in their child's education,” and the centre’s use of technology has a great influence on them and on the curriculum.

After working in the sector for almost 20 years, Zara says, “Technology has revolutionised the way we access, share and utilise information, which has significantly grown families’ understanding of our educational program and practice, and enhanced early learning curriculums.”

Regardless of what age and stage your child is at, it’s also important that the curriculum is inclusive, and this is definitely the case at Green Leaves Rosebud.

The centre has an all-inclusive fee structure to ensure that every child gets access to quality learning activities (plus other important things, like meals, bed linen and nappies), and there are interesting experiences happening inside and outside the centre.

Incursions and excursions are always part of the program at Green Leaves Rosebud, and currently, there’s a special focus on mindfulness, health and wellbeing.

The centre offers weekly yoga classes, delivered by an instructor who’s specially trained in children’s yoga and mindfulness, and these classes are good for the body and brain.

Zara explains that, “Mindfulness activities, breathing exercises and yoga help young children to relax, unwind and calm themselves.

“Yoga also promotes a healthy and active lifestyle that supports children to develop body awareness, self-confidence and a strong sense of self.”

There are also regular culinary classes, led by the centre’s trained Chef, and each session is a holistic healthy eating experience that teaches the children about nutrition, with plenty of sensory exploration.

Zara says, “These experiences also provide children with the chance to enhance early numeracy and language abilities through counting, measuring, following sequences and directions, and exploring cause and effect.”

The centre also offers a music and movement program that’s led by a qualified music teacher.

She tailors each class to tie in with the classroom curriculum, and Zara explains that, “The music classes ignite all areas of child development and skills for a positive transition to school, and this learning helps the body and mind to work together during early development.”

Green Leaves Rosebud also runs a Beach Kinder program at the beach directly over the road.

Zara says, “This is an immersive nature experience, delivered by our environmentally-conscious Early Childhood Teachers.

“The children love being at the beach, and this program promotes self-resilience and awareness of safety in an ever-changing environment, while connecting to Country.”

These learning experiences are just a small sample of what goes on at Green Leaves Rosebud, but they give you a great sense of what a rich curriculum can look like.

And let’s not forget that curriculum is one of several factors that will influence your childcare choice.

When you’re comparing, touring and applying with services, you’ll be thinking about things like quality, cost, availability, facilities and convenience, as well as curriculum, and the KindiCare App makes it easy to weigh up all your priorities.

The ‘Compare All’ button in the ‘My Shortlist’ section displays your favourite services side-by-side, and the ‘Make Enquiry’ button allows you to ask specific questions and book a centre tour.

We wish you luck finding the perfect childcare fit, and if you’d love to explore a Green Leaves service near you, simply tap this brand into your KindiCare search bar.

Keep in mind, too, that Green Leaves Rosebud is a proud sponsor of the Rosebud Football Netball Club. So, if you’re in the area, check out their team doing the centre proud!
