Schools Tree Day is coming soon, and this enviro-friendly event isn’t just for schools!

Each year, lots of early learning services sign up to plant trees and care for nature on the last Friday in July.

And there’s still time for your long day care, kindy or preschool to get involved.

Schools Tree Day 2025 is happening on 25 July, with National Tree Day following on 27 July.

There’s the option of hosting a planting or joining someone else’s, and either way, Tree Day is really positive for early learners, care-givers, local communities and our beautiful country.

There are lots of different projects to explore, and whether your group plants a bush tucker garden, builds a habitat for native wildlife, regenerates an area with lots of little trees, or just enjoys the feeling of dirt between the fingers, every action helps to build a sense of respect and custodianship for our great, green world.

There are also some fantastically free resources which are designed to inspire and educate young children.

National Tree Day’s Activity Book for Early Learners provides 15 pages of eco-friendly fun, in exciting full colour or easy-print black and white.

And Cool.org has some lesson plans that teach littlies how to plant a tree, know a tree, and explore the nature of mindfulness.

You can learn more about the upsides and logistics of Tree Day at nationaltreeday.org.au

And here at KindiCare, we’d like to give a shout out to five early learning services that have shown great commitment to Schools Tree Day over the years.

  • YMCA Taylors Hill Early Learning Centre has participated in 15 events since 2015
  • Hurlingham Park Preschool has been involved in 10 since 2010
  • Jump Start 4 Kids – Blacktown has participated in eight events since 2017
  • Seven Hills West Public School Preschool has contributed to eight events since 2014, and
  • Acacia Children’s Centre has participated in five events since 2017.

Over the last decade, these childcare communities have made an amazing difference to their local areas, and we hope your service, and many others, can join Tree Day in 2025.
