Parent Reviews
School wide parent survey 2024
"A bleak picture of performance, trust, engagement and leadership emerged from the quantitative research and commentary.
Sentiment across all areas probed was very weak, with very few examples of positive experience.
When probed further with voluntary explanations and context given, it is clear that parents are frustrated, disappointed, and concerned.
Three core themes emerge in feedback; leadership, engagement, and performance.
Key responses
The vast majority of compulsory questions that probed in each of the areas of inquiry demonstrated predominantly (and, in general, profoundly) negative sentiment. The most strongly disagreed with statements related to:
- School culture (“BPS has sound leadership”, with 91% disagreement, and only 3% agreement)
- Community and parental engagement (adequate engagement and consultation with parents, with 84%
disagreement, and 5% agreement), and that the school is thriving, with 82% disagreement, and 7% agreement)
- Learning and development support (adequate information provided to support learning, with 81% disagreement, and 7% agreement)
- Academic performance (that there is an environment for strong academic results, with 82% disagreement, and 3% agreement)."
43% did not agree children felt safe at school.
Birchgrove parent-led survey: research report.
March 24
Unsafe. Lazy. Fake. Not serious.
If your child needs help, they will probably get harmed , blamed, suspended and pushed out. Especially little kids. Never sit in a room with school leadership without a witness. Not worth the risk.
Parents did a whole school survey mar 24.
80% answered. 45% did not agree their kids were safe there. 90% had no confidence in leadership.
But complaints go nowhere.
Great school i went there from kindi to year 4, Shout out to Ms Serina, Ms Taksa and Ms Preece 💗💗
Bathrooms could do with a makeover though 😉😉.
it was a really good school i really enjoyed it ad the teachers (especially mr dodds and mr c) were lovely
Apart from bullying by other students my 3 boys enjoyed their time here. l found all teachers had vision for my children with the exception of Miss Danny Corliss who criticised my child saying his capacity for learning was 'limited'. l found her to be judgemental, critical and unpleasant generally. The child she described has excelled at Balmain High, has a job, does public speaking, performs as a dancer and singer. Mr Dodds was our favourite teacher. He deserves ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Birchgrove was a great school! When I went there! Shout out to Mr C, Miss Taksa and Miss Sun! The school will miss you Mr C! Peace out! Year 6 2022. ❤️
Highly recommended
We loved the school seeing we moved away in September shout out to Mr Cormack, legend! Mrs Copping, Mrs Hayward, Mr Trent, Mrs Karnaros and Mrs Hennessy/Murray.
