If you are considering sending your child to this school, I beg you to consider not only my review but any other reviews with less than 2 stars as the 5 star reviews here are dishonest. They come from ex teachers/board or family members highly involved with the school, that leave generic and ambiguous information that contributes nothing other than padding the rating on this site. This school is riddled with misconduct, nepotism & narcissism. Assessment/Curriculum conduct: Performing assessments, whether exams or written response, were always tedious. The curriculum was barely followed, each teacher adding their own 'spin' on the content, often leading to holes in learning and blatant misinformation. Staff often play favourites, giving some students extra help with their work while leaving others in the dark. This often leads to confusion and students being punished for poor results when it is not the students fault at all. I can recall when I had submitted my paper for the Year 11 Chemistry final before the due date, however it was denied due to the teacher claiming that they "didn't see it until after the deadline". Furthermore, another teacher had collected final Year 12 assessments, supposed to be sent directly to QCAA, but instead redistributed the assessments to the students past the assessment due date, presumably for a 'second chance' to get a better result and thus keep the school in a favourable position in the statewide rankings. The fact that this was a Year 12 assessment redistributed AFTER the set QCAA deadline is appalling misconduct. Staff conduct: There is rarely any professionalism amongst the staff at this school, the Head of Secondary seems to have an underdeveloped frontal lobe with the bafflingly unreasonable and unfair punishments or policies enacted. Teachers are known for making racist, sexist and culturally insensitive remarks to the face of students and other staff which further shows the immaturity and unprofessionalism of these staff. The teachers commonly misspell and mispronounce the names of students that have been attending for years. Disrespecting both the student and their relationship with the student. There are also a frightening amount of reports of inappropriate physical contact between some teachers and young students, which has no place in any school let alone a Christian one. To be fair, there are still some professional, polite and skilled teachers, however they are far outweighed and outnumbered by the unprofessional and downright immature snobs that call themselves teachers. The school board and staff are composed of almost entirely of different families unified by intermarriage, similar to the royal families of Europe back in the 1600s. This has created a toxic environment where staff or students outside this family are treated poorly and often get worse punishments compared to that of a member of the family. Gossiping: Petty gossip inside staff rooms is very common, where staff openly discuss sometimes confidential information about the mental health of students, medical conditions and disabilities regardless of the student's wishes to keep this information private. This is common between the school's 'Royal' family members as they discuss staff or students outside the family in a bad light, although this is not exclusive to the family. Uniform conduct: The uniform rules are outlined very vaguely in the student diary, often leading to teachers enforcing their own interpretation of the rules leading to some students getting more leniency compared to others. However, favouritism and the 'royal' family determines what you can get away with. One notable student would often wear excessive jewelry, skimpy clothing and non-natural hair dye in blatant violation of not only the dress code, but the Christian beliefs the school claims to uphold. Yet the most this student would get would be a warning, whilst polite behaving students would have their earrings confiscated on nothing more than the whim of a teacher If you truly care for your child's wellbeing, avoid this school.

If you are considering sending your child to ACC for secondary education, there are a few things to note before you pour thousands of dollars into this organisation. Staff Issues: The school is constantly struggling with staff, often having one teacher overloaded with multiple classes at a time, while some barely manage to teach the lesson and maintain control of the class. Teachers give feedback that is not consistent with the QCAA guidelines. When questioned, the school doubles down and refuses to elaborate. However, there are some amazing teachers whom I hold in the highest regard. These amazing teachers are overshadowed by some not so amazing teachers. I believe the underlying issue is the school’s hiring behaviour. As this is a religious organisation, they hire exclusively Christians. While this is an understandable practice, it may be contributing to the low calibre of teachers. School Rules & Enforcement Practices: ACC sets out their list of rules in their “acceptable use agreements.” They lay out everything from student behaviour to media release. These documents don’t appear to go through a proofing phase, and are ambiguous at best. Many teachers don’t know the rules and enforce what they feel like. They go to great lengths to ensure you wear the right type of hat or have the right coloured shoes, but fail to address most forms of bullying. On the off chance they do step in, the situation isn't dealt in a confidential manner and often achieves nothing. Many students have been pushed to leave the school due to bullying. The school will harp on about their precious agreements, but when asked to prove their case they cry “semantics” and refuse to uphold their end and simply say “That’s the rules.” They are too concerned with making sure their spyware is installed on student’s personal laptops that they have actually used to monitor students at home that they forget to focus on things like schoolwork and good education. They target students that they have personal vendettas with despite total lack of evidence. They undergo no sort of investigation of facts and instead act as judge, jury, and executioner, allowing no meaningful input from those suspected. And when asked to produce evidence of behaviour breaches, both by students and parents alike, the school blatantly admits that they have no evidence and are acting solely on speculation. The school seems to think that this is a totally normal thing to do and will go so far as to say it’s how an actual court proceeding would happen. They live in their own world and rule with an iron fist. Online Security & ICT This school is lacking in their ICT department. Their computers can take 10+ minutes to log in and are susceptible to breaches. The ICT department don’t appear to know much about optimisation and focus more on catching students playing games than their own infrastructure. They also have monitored students while at home through their laptops. I can’t begin to recall the number of times the school’s ICT department has failed to prevent an online attack. The school has suffered everything from scammers breaching the email service, to a full-scale data loss resulting in an untold amount of teacher resources being lost. And with the school to move fully to storing everything in OneDrive, I wouldn’t be surprised if another data loss occurs as they likely won’t bother with local backups as these “IT Professionals” don’t seem to believe in it as they have made possessing even a USB grounds for punishment. Overall, if you can live with the staff issues, those being bullying from staff, monitoring of student’s laptops at home, attempted illegal searches of students, the non-existent judicial system they run, the poor communication, the data breaches of unknown magnitudes, the homophobia, and the complete lack of faith in staff leadership, then go for it. - Mitchell Jones, student from Year 8 – Year 12.

Wonderful school they are helpful and students are respectable, would recommend to anyone, i graduated from this school in 2008 , i have seen the way it has grown and shifted and all the input has been towards the students , teachers go out of there way to get the best results for the students no matter how many hours they have to put in and love to encourage them to succeed.
