Parent Reviews
Very disappointing school. They only have one SSO per class and due to lacking teachers, they have increased class sizes from 16 to 26. They are in no way equipped to deal with this amount of students, let alone the large amount with special needs so those with those special needs aren't provided adequate teaching or attention.
This PRIVATE school has lower education scores than public schools in the North East and they are either ill-equipped, or unwilling, to establish an adequate system for students of all learning styles, a service you and the government pay for.
Get more teachers and SSO's, provide better learning environments and stop letting the students fall behind because you are not able to match the financial contribution you get with the educational contribution you give.
Would rather eat a bowl of rusty nails
Our Lady Of Hope has supported my son to thrive and not just survive.
I will forever be grateful to ALL his teachers but in particular Jo, Christine and Suzie S.
Thank you for going the extra mile.
Absolutely love this school and there learning criteria. I am so sad we had to leave because of moving. Mrs Hopkins and miss D are amazing. Highly recommend school, 5 star x

From what I have witnessed so far at the School personally, I think the School has a well structured, caring Ethos and tries to deliver what they promise. Every child matters and no child will be left behind. I read an interesting article regarding 'Elements of Successful Schools' and I believe Our Lady of Hope has the essential elements of a successful school, from what I have witnessed so far. For anyone interested please see below:
FOCUS ON THE TOTAL CHILD - successful Schools support ALL Students needs inside and outside, to help them become effective, empowered learners.
COMMITMENT TO EQUITY AND ACCESS - Successful schools ensure ALL Student have access to high quality Services and Support, enabling them to set and reach high goals for learning. Equity does not mean equality, they recognize some students need additional resources to have the same opportunity for success, as others and supply it. They ensure the needs of ALL students are met. Successful schools recognize such students are assets and diversity is a strength. So is overcoming them.
FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - effectively engaging families and others in support of students, so they can identify barriers and work to overcome them. Building authentic connections to families and focusing on the fact that every parent / primary guardian wants the best for their child and when provided the right invitations and opportunities, can help their child and all children, be successful.
DISTRIBUTED LEADERSHIP - Successful schools define leadership broadly - to Principals, teachers, school counselors, community members and all relevant others. In these schools, Leaders (regardless of Job title) meet high standards of practice and are supported. Effective communication is a critical component of school success and builds solid trusting relationships between all parties.
STRONG, SUPPORTED TEACHING FORCE AND STAFF - Successful schools are staffed with educators - including teachers, principals, school counsellors, professional support services, tech specialists and others - who are all well educated, well prepared and well supported. They meet high standards of practice and benefit from ongoing professional learning, meaningful evaluation tied to professional growth.
RELATIONSHIP ORIENTATED SCHOOL CLIMATE - Successful schools crate a culture of collaboration and shared responsibility among staff and students and with families and communities. These schools are safe, welcoming and respectful to all. They support positive behaviour and build healthy, supportive relationships and a sense of community between students and staff. Students have frequent opportunities for participation, collaboration, service and self direction - all strengthening their positive connection to the school, rather than dis-engaging from it .
Thought I would share this, as what I have seen so far at Our Lady of Hope, is along the lines of the above document I read.
Went here for 8 years. Very epic school, would recommend to any students looking for school.
Great school. Great community
