School has lots of room for improvement but overall is okay. I don’t believe it’s the best school on the coast but it’s certainly not the worst, very loving staff and some students are kind, very Christian based (expected for a Christian school) but sometimes it’s a bit over the top. Definitely has some priority over certain rules especially including uniform. Definitely a great school but also slacks certain education aspects because of how small the cohort is.

Worst experience for our family at a school and we are incredibly thankful we got both our children out of there after 1 term. I will start with the positives … academically they were very good especially in science, maths and english. The curriculum included creative input whilst also covering all the required content and learning was fun. However, Japanese was disorganised and we had to email the teacher multiple times for basic support and assignment clarification.
Our 13 year old son who is a clever, gentle and sporty kid with adhd was relentlessly bullied by 2 individuals and also by a group in the year 7 cohort. Some staff members weirdly normalised the bullying behaviour which included repeatedly nipple flicking our son without his consent, shaming him for having adhd, throwing objects at him in the shower and pulling his shorts down at camp, breaking his hat on purpose after he won the age championship in swimming. They also bullied him online on a year 7 “friendship” group and our son was not supported by staff and did not feel safe at school. I wonder if he was a female student if the repeated nipple flicking would still been considered acceptable behaviour? We got the impression that this ethos of tolerating very inappropriate behaviour was coming directly from the principal whilst also allowing some staff behaviour that was very unprofessional. The counsellor made negative comments about us as parents directly to our son which made him very uncomfortable (support we were trying to provide to our son re kids bullying him) and she was also normalising bullying behaviour. After we complained about this it was swept under the rug and not even acknowledged. Another staff member was honking and shaking her finger at a parent at pick up time as the parent had apparently parked too close to her ute and after observing this I wondered how this staff member conducts herself with children at school if she behaves this way towards a parent in the parking lot.
The learning support teachers input was very average and they gave our son a TEST to see if he knew what exams and assignments he had coming up in “study smart” which was the most ridiculous waste of time for a bright kid who just needed support re organising his diary with upcoming assignments.
Some staff members were incredibly judgemental and unsupportive and we have never experienced bullying at this level that was tolerated so that everyone can “get along” and put up with unkind and inappropriate behaviour at a Christian school. We are so thankful we are no longer at Calcc as it was the worst experience for us at a religious school lacking in all the Christian values that are important to our family (integrity, kindness, tolerance of differences, compassion and love).
I went to this school for 3 years (grade 7-9). And all I can say is I wish I went anywhere else but there. It wasn’t all bad but I mean 99% was. For a Christian school, 0 Christian values were implemented into my wellbeing, I was constantly bullied by students and teachers, constantly criticised and always being made feel like I didn’t belong. As well as being a straight A student and won every sports award I could, they had no trouble expelling me after one slip up. So when this happened my friends left too, then their friends left and within months about 200 students had changed schools. I would also like to add how strict they are, and I understand being strict in a school but Caloundra Christian collage made me feel like (as a 13 year old kid) that everything I did was wrong and made me beilieve I was worth nothing which in return contributed to some very severe mental health conditions. If you are considering enrolling your child there, for the sake of their wellbeing please think twice.
A great nurturing school. Kids settled in really quickly and have had no dramas.
I could not have thought in my wildest imagination that a school could be so incredible!
Our kids ages are:
Yr 7 boy
Prep girl
My son didn't enjoy his public primary school and I was hesitant to think about how he was going to go in high school but we found this school and it is amazing. He loves school now and has a great peer group.
My daughter didn't go to the early learning centre there (unfortunately!) but has been settling in well with friends, reading, writing, spelling and maths and loves her teacher!!
The teachers genuinely care about the students and get to know each other.
They foster healthy relationships with both parents and students to ensure there is a safe space for kids to thrive, both academically and in life skills.
The parents are also very down to earth and good quality families. Quite a few parents are involved in other capacities of the school or community like or teaching/teacher aids, sports, churches, etc so you get to know each other over time.
Community service and serving each other with respect and kindness and discipline is great without feeling like it's too much.
The school doesn't discriminate against other backgrounds and we find them inclusive and loving with a firm foundation on core values. The kids are also being taught how to express themselves spiritually which is also very important for us.
