We recently joined Holy Spirit School in the last 12 months and have found it to be a great, caring school. We have found the teaching staff to be very approachable, the office staff are lovely and say hello, the principal Mr Martin runs the school very well and we can't fault the teaching or the facilities. It is a big school but you wouldn't know it, we came from a smaller more expensive school and we have less kids in our class at Holy Spirit and better facilities. We also like the student of the week award system as this caters for all abilities; it gives kids like my child the ability to achieve if they aren't able to in the classroom. My child also attended the Challenge games too, which was great for her sports confidence. The teachers are very helpful and supportive with all kids including those with learning disabilities. The facilities are first class, they have an amazing library and new buildings. It's also set on large grounds so there is plenty of room for all. We cannot fault this school and are glad we made the move to Holy Spirit.
I went in 1996, i had a terrible experience. All the teachers are bad at teaching, I didn't know how to read until 9th grade because I had to learn in high school. The one teacher I like is the Librarian, not the old one the young one. I hope I put my word out there. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL! Angry face emoji.

Do not send your child to this school. Bullying is rampant, not only by students but also teachers, and parents are ignored when issues are raised about wellbeing and mental health of children.

Just wanted to give Miss Fig from 1 B a huge shout out. Our Grandson Max, was so excited to see his lovely teacher after the holidays. You are such a vibrant, compassionate woman and we are so glad Max is in your class. Great job Miss Fig.

As a parent from a multilingual background, I would commend Holy Spirit school's increasing endeavours in embracing the multicultural perspectives, while being a religious school. When we were in the classrooms as parent helpers, I was able to observe that there is additional language support provided (with the aid of technology)for students with bilingual backgrounds, specifically to understand the instructions in their native language. Recognition of the values of the  traditional owners of the land is also prominent in the school environment. The presence and the active participation of the 'Nalgaray group' by indigenous students, the encouragement to wear the indigenous T-shirts of Holy Spirit School and the kids' favourite place of gathering is named as 'Bibi goo yumba' , are few ways in which the school acknowledges the nation's culture. The celebration of Harmony day by all the bilingual students collectively is another evident for Holy Spirit's Inclusive practices.

We have enrolled our children at Holy Spirit School a few years ago, when we first relocated to Townsville. We always admire Holy Spirit's positive reinforcement of discipline and spiritual values as we have been through a long way of exposure to various schools. One of our children was worried that she had been bullied at school. We then decided to approach the class teacher, though we were hopeless in getting a favorable outcome because of our cultural background. To our surprise the Class Teacher took the matter to the School Leadership team and we instantly got the matter solved. This has happened in 2019, since then she never complained of bullying at school. We feel privileged to be part of Holy Spirit School, where parents' concerns are heard and appropriately addressed.

I went to this school from year 4 to 5 and I was bullied a lot here. It still bothers me till now. Teachers and students were often racist to me as I was a POC and it was hard for me, so I moved. I could tell that there was favouritism between students and teachers. Teachers were complacent, both class teachers in year 5 and 4 which I had were racist and said something about my skin colour. This was my experience here.
A great school community, very inclusive and welcoming of wider community.
Recently we had to bring some queries to the school Admin, the Deputy Principal  Mr.Martin who was acting as the Principal at the time, handled the scenario diplomatically. He took every genuine step along with his team to address our concerns and ensure the learning needs of our children are met. We can't forget that help indeed. Their empathetical approach towards parents' grievance and their genuine efforts to deliver us desirable outcomes simply prove to us how strong they are in their spirit. Holy Spirit is an outstanding school under an amazing leadership...!
