Early Childhood Educators’ Day is on Sept 6, so get ready to celebrate your educators with a little something that comes from the heart.

Educators make life sooooo much easier for us parents, and although we’re grateful for their care and professionalism every single time we drop our little learners off, Early Childhood Educators’ Day is the perfect opportunity to put those thoughts into action!

This annual event recognises and celebrates the amazing work that educators do in long day care, family day care, kindies, preschools and occasional care services, and although our educators don’t expect a huge present on the day, a big thanks is always appreciated.

Early Childhood Educators’ Day falls on Wednesday, 6 September this year, which means you have plenty of time to think about some nice things to say – and give – to your incredible educators.

To get you started, here are 5 ways to show them how much you care!

Say the words.

Taking the time to say a heartfelt “Thank you” at drop off or pick up means a lot, and you can personalise your gratitude by noticing special things your educator does for your child and family.

For instance, you might remember that time they soothed your toddler’s separation anxiety with the biggest hugs ever, or the effort they made to ensure your older child felt special when your new baby arrived.

Make your educator a card.

A kid-made (or mum-made) card doesn’t take a lot of effort, but it does show that you’ve taken the time to craft something just for them.

If you’re looking for inspo, then a fold-out accordion card or crayon-resist card are two creative ways to show your gratitude, and if you’re more in the market to buy a Thank You card than make one, then try to find a design that matches your educator’s interests or sense of humour – whether that’s pretty flowers or dogs driving Cadillacs!

It’s also nice to craft a personalised message, and an easy way to do this is to list all the things your child loves about their educator, or every single thing you appreciate about them.

Get your educator a little gift.

No-one expects a lavish present (especially in these costly times), however, something small – like a gift card, potted plant or box of chocs will go down well – and if you know that your educator is a coffee monster, stationery superfan or simply loves the smell of lavender, you can personalise their present a little more.

Make something yummy.

If your childcare service is holding a special event for Early Childhood Educators’ Day, then preparing a plate of something delicious is a great way to get involved – even if you can’t stay for the actual event.

Biscuits, mini quiches, muffins and sandwich fingers are all easy-to-eat ideas, and if you’re after a pop of pastel, then these marble rainbow cupcakes look as sweet as they taste.

Just make sure your culinary creation is in line with your service’s policy around things like nuts.

Celebrate the day with your educators.

Lots of childcare services are hosting fun events for Early Childhood Educators’ Day, with morning teas, afternoon teas, dress-up days and appreciation walls all possible, and if you get an invitation, hopefully you can go along, or else listen closely when your kiddo fills you in on alllllll the details of their day!

However you celebrate, we hope you can take some time out to think about everything your dedicated educators do for your child, family and our society, then put those thoughts into action.

And here at KindiCare, we wish every early childhood educator an amazing day, and we recognise and applaud your incredible work – not just on 6 September, but every day, in every way.

THANK YOU!
